Reality TV & Primary Sources

With all the hype surrounding reality TV shows these days, people have grown to expect a certain level of "wow factor" in their entertainment. Viewers expect amusement, sensationalism, and intrigue. Three such programs can offer that and more....PRIMARY DOCUMENTS!

Using myths, folklore, family history, and celebrity appeal to draw their audiences in History Detectives , Faces of America and Who Do You Think You Are? are three programs that educators can use to get young people excited about historical interrogation. Episodes focus on historical investigation by exploring popular history, genealogy, artifacts, historic sites, and archives among other things.
